I’m Sina Hosseini. Computer science student at ETH Zürich.
I’m 20, from Iran and raised in Switzerland. I like figuring things out for myself, whether that means learning a new tool or trying a business idea.
Background
Computers have been part of my life since I was a kid, mostly through video games. That’s where I got comfortable with technology.
At thirteen, I started selling digital products on Telegram and Discord. I’ve always liked finding my own ways to earn money, and I kept trying different things as I got older.
Working for myself
Buying and reselling electronics
During high school, I searched Facebook Marketplace, Ricardo and Tutti for undervalued electronics and resold them. It became my main source of income, usually bringing in CHF 500 to 1,000 a month.
I preferred doing this to taking a part-time job. I could fit it around school and choose how much time to spend on it.
Reselling figures
I usually sold items for 50 to 100% more than I paid. The deal I remember most was a pair of AirPods Max bought for CHF 5 and resold for CHF 250.
Websites for local businesses
Later, I started making websites for businesses in Ticino through SinaWeb. I contacted businesses directly and have built around 30 to 40 websites.
The Work page shows the projects I still manage or have in progress. The rest of my client work stays private.
Trying trading
I also spent two years trying forex trading. I passed an FTMO challenge, but ended up roughly breaking even over that time.
Software projects
I built this to stop checking listings manually. It monitors Ricardo and Tutti and sends matching listings to Telegram, so I can spend my time deciding what to buy.

Hackathons
Colosseum Idearum
Zürich · May 2026 · 24 hours
At my first hackathon, I teamed up with two people I hadn’t met before. We didn’t win, but I left with a clearer idea of what the judges expected.
Beyond the Form
ETH Zürich · First place · CHF 500 team prize
I entered the next one with two new teammates. This time I helped guide the team, and we came first with Once.
How I work
Adapting is probably what I’m best at. I usually work things out on my own, but I also ask questions and like getting to know the people I work with.
I was sceptical of AI at first. Once I started using Claude Code and Codex, they became part of how I work every day.
Building websites with AI taught me how much still depends on my decisions. I choose the direction, check the result and fix what doesn’t work. I’ve had to learn both design and how to use the tools properly.
Right now
My main focus is getting through the first year at ETH. The workload is demanding, so studying comes first.
Trying different businesses has shown me how much time goes into growing one, especially the marketing. I’d also be happy with a regular job. Having a balance between work and the rest of my life matters to me.
